1. Cactus
Puebla-Oaxaca, Mexico.
(October 1988)

From Puebla to Oaxaca
the Pan American Highway
meanders through a dry and
desertlike valley with
gigantic cacti scattered around.

2. Canyon
El Sumidero, Mexico.
(October 1988)

The river Grijalva created
this 40 km long and approx.
1000m deep canyon, which
is covered mostly by lush
vegetation. It was here that
the Chiapas-indians had their
last resort in the war with the
Spaniards in the 16th century.

3. Temple of Inscriptions
Palenque, Mexico.
(November 1988)

The Maya used to build there
cities in the middle of the
jungle. The most important
buildings were freed from
vegetation and restored.
Deep down in this temple a
king-priest's grave was found.
